Design
This five-piece blouse hangs straight from the shoulder rather than gathering to a fitted band, giving it an easy, unstructured line. A pair of long sash ends starts at the left side of the front and ties in a soft bow, the only real shaping detail on an otherwise simple silhouette. The one-piece flare sleeve is cut full-length but perforated so it can be shortened for a cooler, short-sleeved version instead.
A Moment in Fashion History
Pattern 3898 appears in Vintage4me2's own holdings of a 1924 Ladies' Home Journal catalog, shown there in a rich figured lace over a straight, ankle-length skirt. Straight-hanging blouses like this one reflect the decade's move away from the fitted waist entirely, letting a simple sash stand in for structured tailoring.

Connections
This blouse is one of three distinct takes on the ladies' blouse featured together on the same page of our 1924 Ladies' Home Journal catalog — each solving the era's move away from a fitted waist in its own way.
