Design

Pattern 3179 packs four distinct finishing pieces into one eleven-piece envelope. The plainest option is a simple round collar, while the jabot version pairs that same collar with an accordion- or knife-pleated jabot insert for a softer, more decorative front. A third collar option adds ruffled trim for a dressier touch, and the vest brings it all together — an inset front section, inverted plaits, and its own attached collar, meant to be worn as a smart layering piece over a plain dress or blouse.

A Moment in Fashion History

Pattern 3179 appeared in Vintage4me2's own 1924 Ladies' Home Journal catalog holdings, and again in the magazine's December 1924 "New Fashion Book," in a feature titled "Pretty Things One Friend Can Make for Another" — a holiday gift-giving spread of small, quick-to-sew accessories exactly like this collar and vest set, sized to make a thoughtful, budget-conscious Christmas gift.
