Design

McCall's Pattern 2157 is a Step-by-Step wardrobe for the baby and toddler dolls of the late 1960s. The sleeveless dress (View A) has front tucks, a tie-belt, and optional lace or embroidered ruffling at the neck. View B is a striped shirtdress with raglan sleeves and a stand-up collar, closing with snaps under the buttons, worn under a felt vest with a back pleat and rick-rack trim. View C is a dress with a shirred bodice, bias-bound neck and armholes, and a tie-belt, with a matching bonnet elasticized at the back and fastened with a snapped chin strap. The felt coat (View D) has a gathered front, a wide collar, and two buttons, with a felt bonnet to match. For bedtime there is a long nightgown with a gathered neck and bias-bound edges (View E), and an eyelet-trimmed robe closing with snaps under the buttons (View F). Panties are included. McCall's suggested cotton, challis, broadcloth, or synthetics for the dresses, felt only for the vest, coat, and bonnet, and cotton flannel, dotted swiss, challis, or terry for the nightwear.
