Design
Pattern 9510 joins a slightly flared skirt to the bodice at an Empire line, closing at the front with either a single button or a tied bow. A large shaped collar sits away from the neckline for a soft, open finish. The sleeve may be three-quarter length with a turned cuff, or the dress may be made sleeveless entirely. Eight pattern pieces make up this "Very Easy to Make" design.
A Moment in Fashion History
Maternity patterns of the late 1950s increasingly borrowed the Empire silhouette's gentle, waist-skimming line, disguising a growing figure while still following the decade's fuller-skirted fashion silhouette.
