Design

Vogue 8362 uses a released box-pleat at the side fronts of its four-piece skirt to add fullness without extra bulk at center front, joining a bodice at the waistline below a wide, low neckline. The front extension band carries a buttoned closing straight down the front, while sleeves come below-elbow length or short, both finished with a matching extension band for a coordinated look. Suited to gingham, linen, pique, crepe, or a lightweight faille crêpe.

A Moment in Fashion History

By 1954, wide, low necklines and controlled box-pleating reflected fashion's continuing refinement of the fuller postwar silhouette — practical, everyday dresses that still carried real design intention through details like an extension band unifying the front closure and sleeve cuffs.
