Design
Simplicity Pattern 2606 centers on a V-shaped upper bodice front over a full gathered skirt, closing with buttons at the back. View 1 has a small collar, puff sleeves, and self-fabric tie ends, finished with lace trim. View 2 features set-in sleeves and tie ends, with a contrasting upper bodice front, back, and pockets - shown here in a green and white plaid. View 3 is sleeveless, with the upper bodice front, back, and skirt trim all in contrasting fabric, lace-trimmed and finished with a ribbon sash. Fourteen pieces given.
A Moment in Fashion History
The V-shaped bodice on this pattern gave a young child's dress a bit of the same graphic, structured detailing found in grown women's fashion of the period, while the option to work the bodice and pockets in contrasting fabric let one silhouette read as either a simple play dress or, trimmed in lace with a ribbon sash, a dressier occasion piece.
