Design
Simplicity 1998 centers on a lined princess coat, shaped through princess seams for a fitted bodice that flares into a gently full skirt, finished with a small collar and a back pleat for ease of movement. Style I dresses the coat up with applique or embroidery on the collar, using the included transfer design, and pairs it with lined leggings finished with suspenders and a matching bonnet trimmed with the same applique or embroidery and dainty bows. Style II takes a more tailored approach, accenting the collar and pocket flaps in a contrasting fabric and pairing the coat with a simpler, untrimmed hat with a wider brim. Nineteen pieces are given in all, including the transfer design.
