Long set-in sleeves are perforated to shorten and finish with turned-back cuffs. The matching bloomers take elastic through casings at both the upper and lower edges. This size takes 2 yards of 35-inch fabric (2⅛ yards of 32-inch, or 1¾ yards of 39-inch) for the short-sleeved dress and bloomers with contrasting collar and cuffs, or 2⅜ yards of 35-inch for the long-sleeved version in one material, plus ¼ yard of 35-inch contrasting material for the collar and cuffs. A scalloped hem and a lace-trimmed collar, both shown on this envelope's own illustration, dressed the style up for best wear while the elastic-cased bloomers kept it practical for every day. This is an Own Name pattern: the New York Pattern Company issued these envelopes without its usual branding, so that a department or dry-goods store could sell them as a house line. This copy comes from that world, and its own envelope carries the printed \"OWN NAME\" trademark. Its original glassine envelope survives, stamped Barron Bros. of Texas, the small dry-goods store where the pattern was originally sold.
