An attached three-piece circular peplum flares from the waist, and a tie-belt slips through a slashed, bound opening in the right front and ties at the left side-front. The two-piece circular skirt is fitted smoothly over the hips by two-piece hip-yokes, with a folded stay adjusted inside the yokes, then opens into a sweep of about 2⅞ yards at the lower edge (size 16). It closes at the left side and, in this size, measures 33 inches at center-back including a 2-inch hem. For size 36 the envelope calls for 4⅜ yards of 39-inch fabric for the dress in one material, or 2⅜ yards of 39-inch fabric for the blouse and 2 yards for the skirt as separates. This is an Own Name pattern: the New York Pattern Company issued these envelopes under a trade name of their own rather than its usual branding, so that a department or dry-goods store could sell them as a house line. This copy comes from that world. Its original glassine envelope survives, stamped Barron Bros. of Texas, the small dry-goods store where the pattern was originally sold.
