Design

Pattern 3745 offers an easy, kimono-sleeved silhouette typical of children's wear in the early 1920s. The side slashes with gathered lower edges give a soft, blouson shaping at the hip, while the front inset pockets add a practical touch. The two-piece kimono sleeve can be finished short with a cuff, or extended to full length and gathered to a wristband, giving the pattern real versatility from one season to the next.

A Moment in Fashion History

This design appeared in the Spring 1923 issue of The Ladies' Home Journal, featured among a lineup of dresses in "Clever Treatment of Challis, Organdie and Voile" - reflecting the era's growing interest in soft, easy-care fabrics for children's everyday and party wear alike. The slashed-and-gathered kimono sleeve was a favored construction of the early 1920s, prized for both its comfort and its simple, modern line.
