Original circa 1922 Ladies' Home Journal Pattern No. 3734 for a girls' dress that opens at the front neck and slips over the head, with a round neck finished by a separate collar (or left lower and collarless in View B). Drop shoulders lead into a one-piece full-length sleeve gathered to a wristband, which can be shortened to a cuffed short sleeve. The one-piece skirt front and back may be made with side plaits or gathers. Factory Folded.

Design
Pattern 3734 opens at the front neck and slips over the head. View A adds a round collar and ties at the waist with a self-fabric sash, worn over the full-length sleeve; View B omits the collar for a lower, perforated neckline and can be made with the sleeve shortened to a cuffed short length. Drop shoulders keep the bodice easy and unfitted. The one-piece skirt front and back join at the sides in either box plaits or soft gathers, sewn from front and back sections cut in one with the bodice above. Seven pattern pieces in all.

Pattern 3734 appears in a Home Pattern Company catalog page headed "You Cannot Go Wrong With a Home Pattern," shown alongside several other girls' dress patterns of the period and paired with a matching embroidery transfer, No. 14391. The catalog offered the pattern in sizes 6 to 14, part of the Home Pattern Company's broader push in the early 1920s to make well-fitting children's clothing simple and affordable for the home sewer.
