Design
Pattern 3008 opens at the back and slips over the head, with the front bodice cut long enough to extend into a pair of sash ends that tie at the back. The neckline can be finished two ways: a round neck with a separate collar, or - by cutting along a marked perforation line - a plain square neck without one. The one-piece sleeve runs full length and can be shortened at a second perforation line for a short cuffed sleeve. Nine pattern pieces in all.
A Moment in Fashion History
Simple, practical dresses like Pattern 3008 were a Ladies' Home Journal staple of the early 1920s, when the magazine's Home Pattern line favored slip-on construction and minimal fastening for younger children - easy for a busy mother to sew and easy for a small child to wear without help.
