Original circa 1962 Advance Pattern No. 2768 for a women's dress and cropped jacket from the Sew-Easy line. The collarless jacket curves open at the front and fastens with a single button, over a slim dress with a fitted short-sleeved bodice, yoke, and belted waist. Complete and in Nice Condition.

Design
Advance 2768 pairs a short, boxy jacket with a slim, belted dress. The lined jacket has a collarless round neckline, softly curved front edges, bracelet-length sleeves, and a single-button closure, and in View 1 its edges are finished in fold-over braid. Beneath it, the dress has a fitted short-sleeved bodice with front and back yokes, a slim skirt, a self belt, and a neckline zipper. View 1 makes the bodice and belt in a contrasting fabric with the skirt matching the jacket, so the dress reads as a suit when the jacket is on. View 2 makes the jacket and dress all in one fabric.
A Moment in Fashion History
The cropped, collarless jacket over a slim dress, topped with a pillbox hat, became the signature look of the early 1960s, made famous by Jacqueline Kennedy during her years as First Lady. Advance's cover shows exactly that styling, gloves and all. This copy carries the stamp of Lipman Wolfe & Co., a department store on S.W. Fifth Avenue in Portland, Oregon, where a home sewer could buy the pattern and the fabric to make it in the same trip.
