A Moment in Fashion History
By 1963, the mix-and-match separates wardrobe was firmly established as the practical choice for summer, letting one length of striped knit or printed cotton become a top, a swimsuit, and a pair of pants. McCall's envelope art plays up exactly this versatility, showing the same basic pieces styled for the beach, the poolside, and everyday wear.
