Design
Simplicity Pattern 2061 gathers three coordinating separates. View 1 is a hip-length pullover shirt with a stand-away collar, short cuffed sleeves, side-seam openings at the hem, and front pockets, paired with knee-length contrast pedal pushers that open at the side seam. View 2 is the same shirt without cuffs, finished instead with bias trim, paired with shorts that close with a side zipper. View 3 is a waist-length version of the View 1 shirt, paired with pedal pushers finished in contrast shirt fabric that forms cuffs at the hem. Eleven pieces total.
A Moment in Fashion History
Pedal pushers had crossed over from women's casual wear into children's play clothes by the late 1950s, and this pattern reflects the era's growing enthusiasm for mix-and-match separates over one-piece outfits. Offering the shirt in two lengths and the pants with either cuffs or bias trim let a single pattern stretch across several different looks from one set of pieces.
