Design

McCall's 2342 dresses a high-heeled fashion doll for every part of her day. View A is a long nightgown with lace-edged straps and a satin ribbon tie at the waist, paired with View B, a flowing peignoir with tiered, lace-trimmed flutter sleeves. View C is the showpiece: a princess-seamed bridal gown with a sheer overskirt drawn up into swags with pearl trim and ribbon bows, worn over a lace-ruffled petticoat and finished with a net veil, pearl-trimmed cap, and lace mitts. View D is a shirtwaist dress with a collar, button front, short sleeves, and a full gathered skirt, while View E is a slim double-breasted sheath with short kimono sleeves, worn with a felt belt, hat, and handbag trimmed in grosgrain ribbon. Views F, G, and H complete the wardrobe with a ruffle-edged petticoat, panties, and bra.

Doll Details

McCall's designed this wardrobe for the "high heel figure" dolls that were the height of fashion in the late 1950s: dolls with grown-up figures and arched feet made to wear high-heeled shoes, a sharp departure from the little-girl and baby proportions of earlier play dolls. The envelope names Revlon, Toni Sophisticate, Cindy, Missy, Junior Miss, Little Lady, and Sweet Sue Sophisticate Dolls. The pattern was printed in six doll sizes, from 10½" to 22". This pattern is a Size 12". As McCall's itself advised, measure your doll and compare with the chart below before cutting.
