Design

McCall 6370 is a long, fitted blouse that saves all its drama for the back. A clean square neckline frames the front, and a row of small buttons closes the upper back. Below the waist, a separate lower back piece is gathered into soft drapes that sweep around the hip in a bustle, edged with a full ruffle and anchored by a tie belt knotted into a generous bow. View A has short sleeves, View B three-quarter sleeves, and View C is sleeveless. The pattern has 9 pieces and was offered in Junior Miss sizes 9 through 18.

A Moment in Fashion History

In the years just after the war, designers turned to the hips for feminine interest: peplums, side drapes, and bustle backs added curve to a still-slim silhouette and hinted at the fuller shapes about to arrive. McCall 6370 brings that idea to the Junior Miss customer, borrowing the bustle from the 1870s and restyling it as a playful, youthful blouse worn over a narrow skirt. The envelope art, with gloves, a corsage, and upswept curls, presents it as a dress-up piece for a special occasion.
