Design
Ladies' Home Journal 3263 is a seven-piece dress with a distinctive sailor influence, finished with a wide collar tied at the front in either of two styles as illustrated. The waist opens cleverly at the left side-front rather than straight down the back, and is tucked at both front and back for a soft shaping without darts. Sides and sleeves are cut in one piece for short sleeves, or extended with a separate one-piece lower sleeve section to reach full length - letting the same bodice serve warm or cool weather. The one-piece skirt is straight-plaited, joined to the waist at a fitted belt.
A Moment in Fashion History
Sailor-collar dresses remained a beloved staple of girls' fashion well into the 1920s, prized for their crisp, nautical look. A Home Pattern Company catalog page confirms 3263 was still being sold in 1924, shown alongside a full page of similar sailor-collar and belted girls' dress styles - a reminder of just how enduring this silhouette was in the era's everyday girlswear.
