Design
Vogue 9724 pairs a slim, released-pleat skirt with a bodice closing down the front with buttons beneath an away-from-neckline shaped collar. Welt pockets add practical detail, while sleeves cut in one with the yoke front and joined to the armhole in back give the shoulder a clean, continuous line — available in a below-elbow or short length. A second view offers the same silhouette with a contrasting collar for a bit of color-blocked interest. Suited to linen, cotton tweed, faille, or a lightweight wool crepe.
A Moment in Fashion History
By the close of the 1950s, dress silhouettes had settled into a slim, refined line, with design interest increasingly carried by construction details — a shaped collar set away from the neckline, welt pockets, a yoke-cut sleeve — rather than dramatic changes in shape. Vogue 9724 reflects that quieter, detail-driven sophistication.
