Original 1956 Butterick Printed Pattern No. 7660 for a misses' capelet yoked dress, offered in three views. A capelet-shaped yoke frames a becoming V neckline over a molded bodice, cinched at the waist and opening into a softly gored skirt that sweeps to a full 100" around the lower edge in Size 16. View A adds below-elbow sleeves; View B is sleeveless with lace trim on the yoke; View C is sleeveless with simulated pockets on the yoke. Factory Folded and Unused.

Design
Butterick 7660's defining feature is its capelet-shaped yoke, cut in one with the front and back bodice pieces to frame a becoming V neckline with real structure at the shoulder. The molded bodice fits close through the waist before the softly gored skirt takes over, sweeping to 100" around the lower edge at Size 16. Three views offer real variety from the same base: below-elbow sleeves (A), sleeveless with a lace-trimmed yoke (B), or sleeveless with simulated pockets set into the yoke (C). Twelve pattern pieces are included, suggested in linen, pique, cotton broadcloth, crepe, shantung, faille, or rayon flannel.

By 1956, a shaped yoke like this capelet treatment offered a way to add structure and visual interest at the shoulder without sacrificing the fitted-waist, full-skirted silhouette that had defined the years since Dior's 1947 New Look.
