Design

Hollywood 1450 is a twelve-piece box coat pattern offering three distinct looks: View 1's long length with a striking contrast fur-effect trim at collar, front closure, and cuffs; View 2's shorter, seven-eighths length in a single fabric; and View 3's long, tailored single-breasted version with a notched collar and welt pockets. Wide sleeves can be finished with or without deep cuffs on any view. Unusual for a wartime-era pattern, this design was cut in an extended size range reaching all the way to this extra size 44 Bust / 47 Hip - a genuinely useful find for collectors and modern sewists working outside the standard vintage size range.

A Moment in Fashion History

Wartime tailoring in 1944 still made room for a bit of glamour, as seen in View 1's fur-effect trim set against the simpler, more fabric-conscious lines elsewhere in the coat. Hollywood Pattern 1450 also belongs to the company's Four Star Patterns line, a premium 25-cent tier positioned above Hollywood's standard 15-cent patterns during the WWII years.
