Design

McCall's 2150 packs a full seven-piece wardrobe into one envelope, built around the company's "Instant" cutting system: each piece is cut as a single unit, pinned right to the fabric according to the printed layout, with no separate tissue for facings or interior lines to slow down a home sewer working through an entire doll wardrobe in an afternoon. The variety across the seven views is real: View A is a felt coat, hat, and bag ensemble; View B pairs a fitted bodice-and-skirt dress with a coordinating felt vest; View C is a fuller dress finished with embroidered ruffling; View D is a swingy peignoir; View E is a nightgown with matching felt slippers trimmed in rhinestones; View F is a Pierrette clown costume complete with a net ruffle collar and a pointed, pompom-trimmed felt hat; and View G rounds things out with a petticoat, panties, bra, and a set of tiny cardboard hangers to store the finished pieces on.

Doll Details

This pattern was cut to fit several of the small "walker" and play dolls popular in the late 1950s - Ginny, Alexander-kins, Muffie, Lingerie Lou, Daily Dolly, Gigi, and Mary Lou - reflecting how closely many companies' small dolls shared body proportions at the time. This is a Size 9-10" copy; the pattern's full doll-size range is shown below:
