Design
Simplicity 1857 gives three distinct takes on the same party-dress formula. View 1 is ankle length and sleeveless, with a low, round neckline and a large lace-edged collar; its net overskirt carries two rows of lace edging over a satin-suitable underskirt. View 2 shortens to street length, with the overskirt cut from the same fabric as the underskirt and finished with flower and bow trim. View 3 raises the neckline and adds puffed sleeves with a smaller collar and lace edging, its underskirt cut from a contrasting fabric, with ribbon threaded through carriers at the waist. Sixteen pattern pieces are included, suggested in cottons, rayons, organdy, dotted swiss, taffeta, or nylon, with satin for View 1 and eyelet or cotton for View 3.
