Design

Du Barry 2567B centers on a soft, tucked bodice: the front is tucked just below the neck edge, while both front and back gather to a yoke seamed at the shoulders for a gently full silhouette. A two-piece collar finishes the neckline and can be trimmed in either delicate lace edging or novelty frilling, giving the same basic dress two very different finished looks. Short puff sleeves are simply bound rather than cuffed, keeping the construction genuinely quick for a child's everyday dress. The back closes with either buttons or a slide fastener, and just six pattern pieces make up the whole garment.

A Moment in Fashion History

Yoke-gathered dresses like this one were a defining silhouette for young children in 1940, favoring soft fullness over a fitted waist for a comfortable, easy fit through the toddler years. Du Barry's own guarantee of quality and fit made patterns like 2567B a trusted, economical choice for mothers sewing a child's everyday wardrobe just as the decade turned toward the demands of wartime thrift.
