Design

McCall's Pattern 2261 is a complete layette for a baby doll, seven views in all. View A is a gingham dress gathered beneath a wide eyelet collar and tied at the neck with ribbon, with a matching eyelet-trimmed bonnet. Under it goes the slip shared with View D, finished with ruffled eyelet. View B is a short-sleeved shirt worn with striped overalls. View C is a long nightgown gathered at the neck and tied closed at the hem with ribbon, with its own pillow and a pillow cover trimmed in ruching and a ribbon bow. View D is a long dress with puffed sleeves and ruffled lace edging, tied at the neck and worn over the slip. View E is a long coat closed with pearl buttons, paired with a ruched bonnet tied under the chin. View F is a sacque, a little tie-front baby jacket, with matching panties, and View G is a lace-edged bib. Notions include snaps, elastic for View D, and three pearl buttons for the coat.
