Design
Ladies' Home Journal 3904 sets itself apart with an asymmetrical opening at the left shoulder and underarm, rather than the more common center-back or center-front closing. Drop shoulders give the bodice a relaxed, easy line, extending into an optional one-piece full-length sleeve finished with a soft frill cuff. The one-piece skirt incorporates an inset section at the left side, with shirring gathered at each upper edge to create a draped effect across both the front and back of the skirt. Sash ends at the left front are optional, tying to echo the asymmetry established at the shoulder. Eleven pieces make up the complete pattern.
