Design
Pattern 3236 is built around the easy kimono sleeve, cut in one continuous piece with the blouse body for a soft, dropped-shoulder line. The blouse slips on over the head, opening at the front and at each underarm, and can be trimmed with a decorative band along each side seam or left plain. Full-length sleeves shorten along a perforated guideline for a lighter, warm-weather option. Just three pattern pieces make this a quick, approachable make.
A Moment in Fashion History
Pattern 3236 appeared in the August 1921 Ladies' Home Journal, in a feature on new fall blouses. The magazine's own version was made up in rust-colored Georgette crepe, with ribbon brocaded in harmonizing colors doing all the decorative work and rust-colored fringe finishing the front ends - the looped panel effect at the back was singled out as a particularly good feature of the design, said to help minimize the appearance of the hips.
