Design
Pattern 3300 gives an eight-piece girls' coat two distinct silhouettes from one envelope. View A blouses over a fabric sash tied at the left side-front, the coat's lower edge turned under for a soft, gathered effect above the tie. View B hangs straight, meant to be worn with its own leather belt rather than a sash. Both views share a collar that buttons close to the neck and two-piece sleeves, finished with or without a turned cuff.
A Moment in Fashion History
This pattern appeared in the January 1922 Ladies' Home Journal, in a feature on children's winter wear that noted how much easier the modern topcoat had become for a girl to wear compared to the stiff, boxy coats of only a few years earlier - crediting softer materials like duvetyn, velours, and twill for the change. The bloused-or-straight option built into a single pattern reflects that same shift toward ease and adaptability in children's outerwear.
